LENÇÓIS MARANHENSES FROM END TO END (7 DAYS 6 NIGHTS)
DAY BY DAY ITINERARY
1st DAY: City of origin/São Luís

Arrival at the airport in São Luís, reception and transfer to the hotel or lodging chosen.

Overnight in São Luís.

DAY 2: São Luís/Santo Amaro
Departure between 7am and 8am in a van or microbus, with a 20 minute stop in a support point to renew your energy. It's about 4 hours on a paved road until the parking lot at the entrance of the city, where there will be a change of vehicles. The trip continues on paved road on board a 4x4 transport to Santo Amaro. This city is one of the three that make up the Lençóis Maranhenses National Park, its dunes blend in with the city of calm streets, rich in coconut trees and where the Alegre River flows. After check in and accommodation at the chosen inn, lunch stop (not included). At 2pm departure to visit Lagoa da Gaivota, the tour is done in a private 4x4 vehicle on a small trail among bushes and cashew trees. The Gaivota Lagoon appears as if it were a mirage, huge and with transparent water. In the summer it is divided and separated by "morrarias" (the local name for dunes). Free time for bathing and contemplation of the local beauties. Return after sunset.
Overnight in Santo Amaro.

3rd day: Santo Amaro/Espigão and Betânia
Breakfast.
Leave at 9am for the tour to Espigão and Betânia in a 4x4 wheels traction vehicle. This region of the National Park has a beautiful ecosystem made up of rivers, dunes, restinga and native forest, with fruits such as Murici, Caju and the delicious Mirim. The great hosts of the region are Seu Chico Calixto and Dona Chagas, friendly natives who offer the famous caipira chicken for lunch (not included), besides canoe rides on the Alegre River and a hammock to rest.
Return in the late afternoon to Santo Amaro.
Overnight in Santo Amaro.
4th DAY: Santo Amaro/Barreirinhas/Lençóis Maranhenses
Breakfast
At 8am departure in a 4x4 vehicle to Barreirinhas. The trip is made on dirt roads (2 hours) and asphalt (1 hour) until the city of Barreirinhas. Check in and accommodation at the chosen inn or hotel. At 2pm departure to get to know the amazing Lençóis Maranhenses National Park, this tour is done in a 4x4 vehicle (off road), going through loose sand trails in the middle of the vegetation, passing by small rivers, which gives the sensation of being inside a "boat car", in other words: GUARANTEED ADVENTURE. Arriving at the destination, a short walk on the dunes of Lençóis (vehicles are not allowed in the Park), opportunity to take a bath and refreshment in the crystalline water lagoons, return after sunset.
Overnight in Barreirinhas

5th DAY: Barreirinhas/Caburé/Atins
Breakfast.
Departure at 8:30 for a speedboat ride on the Rio Preguiças. On this trip it is possible to see palm trees such as: Buriti, Juçara (açaí), Carnaúba, as well as tall and leafy mangrove vegetation, which make the landscape very diversified. Visit to the communities located in the APA (Environmental Preservation Area) of the Little Lençois: Vassouras, where there is a large presence of capuchin monkeys; Mandacaru, where the 35m high Preguiças Lighthouse will be visited, providing a privileged view of the Big Lençois, the mouth of the Preguiças River and the Little Lençois. Next stop is Cabure, a pleasant place located in a peninsula between the Atlantic Ocean and the Rio Preguiças, a perfect place for resting and having a nice swim in the sea or in the river. The place has good restaurants that are recommended for lunch (not included). To finish the day, a trip to the village of Atins that lies between the mouth of the Preguiças River and the Atlantic Ocean. Atins is considered one of the entrance doors to the Lençois, it is in one of the extremities of the park, from where the dunes can be reached in an hour and a half walk. It is a fishing village, with simple and welcoming people, calm and with almost deserted beaches, perfect for a delicious swim in the sea or practice of sailing sports, due to the intensity of the winds in the region.
Overnight in Atins
DAY 6 Atins/Barreirinhas/São Luís

Breakfast.

Free time to rest or enjoy the local beaches.
At 2:00pm return to Barreirinhas. From 4:00 PM transfer by air-conditioned minibus to São Luís. Approximate duration of the trip: 4 hours, with a stop to renew your energy. Arrival at 9:00 pm in São Luís.
Sleep in São Luís.
DAY 7: São Luís/Home city
